Deckmasters Supply Store has established our reputation over more than three decades through quality products and services. We recognize that you’re not "just building" a deck. When investing in your space's future, everything requires careful planning and seamless execution. That's why we offer a turnkey deck building process, ensuring our clients enjoy a smooth and effortless experience.
permits
We pull all necessary permits in town. Additionally we ensure all utility locates are called through ND or MN One-Call
footings
Helical piers are our standard footings. Each is installed with site specific pressure readings to ensure proper load capacity.
framing
We only frame our decks with a #1, Southern Yellow Pine, Kiln Dried treated to help prevent bowing, twisting and warping.
blocking
Every deck over 6' gets one row of stiff backing and full joist border blocking; upper level decks get diagonal bracing.
stair stringers
Stringers are custom measured and cut per each project and spaced 12" on-center. Each is strengthened with 2x4 cleat.
hangers & brackets
All hangers and brackets are Simpson Strong-Tie Z-Max, hot dip galvanized metal; installed with 1-1/2 or 3" hanger nail.
joist tape
The top of all beams, floor joists, blocking, and stair stringers are clad in G-Tape to prevent premature rot.
decking
We use grooved decking with hidden fasteners for field decking; square shouldered boards for borders and treads.
screws & fasteners
Where a nylon clip hidden fastener isn't used, color matched stainless steel screws are used to secure decking & fascia.
beam & post wrap
Most of our clients clad the beam and posts with low maintenance materials to add visual appeal to the deck.
vertical skirting
Most lower decks feature vertical deck boards to enclose the deck. Deterring garbage and critters from getting under.
fascia
All of fascia is installed below a 1" border overhang. This prevents buildup of gunk when it's installed flush to decking.
railing
We install all surface mount railings to solid blocking. All top of stair railing posts are flush with the tops horizontal posts.
crossover posts & ada
To meet code, a stair railing is installed with either a crossover line post for continuous rail or an ADA compliant side rail.
annual inspection
Starting in 2025, each deck build, still owned by the same client, will feature a free, annual inspection to recommend any preventative maintenance.
preventative services
Outdoor products are made to withstand the weather. That said, they will eventually require upkeep and repair. Start early to avoid major repair costs.
