1989: our story begins
Founded in 1989 by Todd and Lori Funfar, Deckmasters has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to quality in every deck we create in the Fargo Moorhead, and lakes area. What began as simple family owned business out of their home has grown into the most trusted name in deck building & supply. Known for our attention to detail, personalized service, and passion for bringing outdoor living dreams to life.
2002: brick and mortar storefront
In 2002 the Funfar's dreamed of not only focusing on building, but creating a one stop shop lumberyard dedicated to all things decks. That dream became a reality with the Deckmasters Supply Store. What is still located on 53rd Avenue South, in Fargo, was once a gravel road. Over the last 20 years, our lumberyard has specialized into all low maintenance products, serving the DIY-er and contractors alike.
At Deckmasters, we understand that a deck is more than just an addition to your home—it’s a space for gathering, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of nature. That’s why we work closely with our clients to design, retail, or construct custom decks that perfectly fit their lifestyle and aesthetic preferences using low maintenance products.
Our commitment to using only the highest quality materials and the latest building techniques has earned us a loyal customer base and numerous referrals. With over three decades of experience, Todd, Lori, and our skilled team continue to bring expert craftsmanship and a personal touch to every project, big or small. 2023: looking to the future
In 2023, the Funfar's said their goodbye's and headed into retirement. After 36 years of business they sold Deckmasters to long time employee Josh Smook. It was a emotional roller coaster of a day. Like proud parents, Todd & Lori sent Josh off to make his part of the Deckmasters history. Naturally it ended with some margarita's at Mexican Village, a common watering hole for us.
The same commitment to using only the highest quality materials and the best building techniques still remains true and will continue to grow our client and referral network.
